05 - Febuary - 2009 But there is some good to come out of this, small independent retail is booming. More and more small retail businesses are starting up, and existing ones have the budget for refitting and creating new displays. Due to this upturn in trade we have priced our slatwall and shop display items very competitively, Slatwall is the wall panels that you can use to display almost anything and small retail businesses love it.
04 - January - 2009 If you have your own retail business, then the most important thing is your merchandising displays. If you have a newsagents shop, then newspapers will be at the front of your shop and chocolate bars will be by the till. People come in for their paper in the morning, so let them get it easily without walking all round the shop, plus if they are at the front people who are walking past will see them and come in, increased footfall in one easy step. Placing impulse buy items by the till point is a classic ploy, people will have to cue in your shop, use that to your advantage and tempt them into buying other items, anything cheap and easy and people will buy it. How about a furniture shop?, why not try putting a really attractive leather sofa near the front. People in town have been shopping all day, who could resist a comfy looking leather sofa. They will come in and try it, if the have entered then they are clearly interested. And you can start your sales procedure. Pet shops are a tricky one, but try placing cheap and cute accessories in the window, everyone love a cheap and cute accessory for the beloved pet. Not many pet shops now have live animals in their windows. I did once see a Parrot near the door of one busy pet shop. The parrot was very chatty and very cute, it really drew people in. So remember when planning your shop displays to keep them simple and attaractive, use great products like Slatwall and quality Shop Counters. Use your imagination, but most importantly.
